Question:

Calculate the escape velocity of an object from both the surface of the earth and moon?

Answer:

We know the following information:

We use earth's radius as r, as the rocket is taking off from the earths surface.


We can now use the standard formula for calculating escape velocity:

For the moon we simply replace M and r.
